Simon is visiting

We are having a wonderful visit with Simon, our dear friend from China. Connie and Lorie came over for a visit to reminisce about our trip to China 3 years ago.

Yesterday we went for a boat ride on Utah Lake, which is the biggest fresh water lake in the western US.

A first for Simon to drive the boat.

He enjoyed going for a swim with Matt.

Last night Weston came for a visit, and Simon enjoyed carrying him around.

Look at Weston hanging onto his shirt.

Picture frames

I purchased a couple pics from the eagle festival and camel polo.

Mark and I tried to get them framed on Saturday but the place was closed, so Saruul and I went yesterday. He did a great job picking the mats and frames.

He also got out his calculator to add it up to make sure I was being charged the correct amount.

He picked them up after one day, and $80.00 for all three.

They are beautiful.
Also decided to get my Mongolian script of “I love you” framed. At the framing store they were able to read it, which pleased me.

Now to decide where we shall hang them.

More of Beijing

The weather was great in Beijing for Mark and I to walk to do our shopping.

Lunch with Ella and Xieman.

We had a great time shopping.

We just loved being in Beijing, and being able to visit with all of our friends.

Happy Chinese New Year (year of the snake)

Mark and I are in Beijing for the weekend of the Chinese New Year of the snake.
This is the cute little guy that was put on our bed in the hotel.

We went out to celebrate with our friends Mirek and Ella close to the drum tower.

The fireworks at midnight were magnificent. These pics were taken by Mirek.

Today we had lunch with Heidi, that Mark worked with, and I did the volunteer work with her at the migrant school. Finally got to meet her daughter Niu Niu

We had a nice visit.

The vegetarian food was delicious.

So nice to catch up on all the news.

Feels great to be back in Beijing.

I love you in Mongolian

Today I learned how to write “I love you” in Mongolian script. I thought it might be short, but as you can see it wasn’t. I tend to do to many curves, I think a result of doing Chinese calligraphy.

I will be ready for Valentine’s Day.

Aprons for decoration

I like these aprons so much that I don’t know if I want to wear them or just display them.
This one is from South Korea

This brown one is from Japan.

Wearable art!

Tea party

I finally have a place to display my tea sets. The fish set, along with the jade tea set are from China.
The pewter sets are from Thailand.

Perhaps I can have a tea party with my future grandchildren.

Letter from mom!

My mom’s letter finally arrived. It took over 2 months to get here, but I am just glad that it arrived.

I am so thankful for the the Internet as I can’t imagine waiting 2 months to see pictures of my family.
Thanks mom, for keeping me up to date with family pictures.

Keeping warm

Xieman gave me a very thoughtful gift to keep me warm in Mongolia.

You just plug it in for 10 minutes and it will stay warm from 2 to 8 hours.

You can put your hands inside or as the package says warm feet, warm sleep. I have tried it out, and it really gets warm.
Xieman knows I like the color red.
Thanks Xieman

Blue sky

I had a great time for my one night in Beijing. Went out for dinner with Ella and Xieman which was fun. Mark and I enjoyed the delicious Chinese food we had for dinner.
The air quality in Beijing was horrible.

Happy to be back in Mongolia, where the air is colder, but love seeing the blue sky.

Almost finished unpacking.
