Happy New Year 2014

We celebrated New Year’s Eve playing games which Westie enjoyed watching.Mark and I had a great time watching him all day.

He is such a joy to be around.

Happy Thanksgiving

We started the day with a trip to the Salt Lake zoo.

He loved seeing a big Sophie.

Westie said, too much turkey.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving

I did a little decorating for Thanksgiving. I would like to thank Komal and Rohit for the beautiful table runner from India.

It is wonderful to have a little taste of India in the home.

Where’s Waldo? Where’s Westie

On Saturday we dressed Westie up in the penguin costume and surrounded him with some of Laura’s penguins. He smiled so cute, so easy to take many pics of him.

I think he is going to enjoy his first Halloween.
Thanks Michelle for the cute penguin costume for Westie.

Having fun in Bangkok

Mark and I arrived in Bangkok and we are enjoying the nice warm weather here. We went to the weekend market and I enjoyed some coconut ice cream.

Traditional toppings of sticky rice and peanuts.

For dinner we went to our favorite restaurant to eat the delicious Thai chicken wings. The asparagus soup was also tasty.

This morning I tried the green Pandan pancakes. Pandan is a plant that grows in tropical areas in Asia. They have a sweet unique flavor and are used to enhance the flavor of desserts and savory food.

I am getting lots of exercise climbing the steps for all the overpasses. Fun to watch all the motorcycles make their way to the front and then take off.

I love to see all the colorful taxis, green, yellow, pink, blue, red.

Weston’s first 4th of July

Yesterday was Weston’s first 4th of July.

He looked so cute in his festive outfit.

Jonathan was trying to get him to smile.

We watched some fireworks from their back deck.

Happy Easter

It has been a few years since Mark and I spent Easter here at home. We had a great day with the kids.
Laura came to church with us.

Mark and Laura

I finally got to wear this suit that I had made in Thailand.

Trish and Tom enjoyed coloring eggs.

Matt, Jonathan, and Laura enjoyed their Easter bowls.

The kids gave me these flower bulbs. I will enjoy watching them grow.

Next year we will have a little grandson to join in the fun.

Easter shopping

Today I had another great time shopping for Easter. I used to make these Rice Krispy treats for Patricia and her classmates since her birthday was close to Easter. I was surprised to find chocolate covered Peeps.

Also was very surprised to find edible grass in apple flavor, along with the rabbits in banana flavor.

I forgot how much I like Easter.

Decorating for Easter

This evening I decided to put out a few Easter decorations. It brought back lots of memories from when the children were young and I did ceramics when they were napping.
The orange egg with the rabbit was one of my first pieces. The lamb was also made for Laura.
The little baskets were made for Patricia’s 4th birthday, as I handed them out to all of her preschool friends.

This little bunny house was made as a night light for Matt.

I made two of these cute little bunnies for Laura and Matt, and was then able to make another one when Trish came along.

Such wonderful memories.

International Woman’s Day

International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In Mongolia International Woman’s Day is a official public holiday.

Mongolians celebrates this day within the family. Men give thanks for all women especially for their mother and wife. This day all men cook in their home for women. TV channels show especial programs during this day.
I enjoyed being in Mongolia for the holiday. At our apartment each woman was given a rose. It was taped on our front door.
My rose is still looking nice after a few days.

I would like to wish my dear mother a Happy birthday as it is also on the 8th of March, and a belated birthday wish to my favorite son Matt.
