A few days in Singapore 11/2014

Mark and I are in Singapore for the first time. Fun to be here at Christmas as the decorations are beautiful.

We saw the landmark for Singapore, the Merlion which is have fish and half lion.

Very interesting to see the Marine Bay Sands Club, which. Is the most expensive resort in the world, at 4.7 billion U.S. dollars.

It is very hot and humid here, and rained twice today.

239th Marine Corps Birthday Ball

Mark and I attended the 1st Marine Ball in Ulaanbaatar.

The Marines are here to protect the American Embassy, and our Ambassador, Piper Campbell. She is in the blue dress, with the oldest Marine to attend the party on the left, LtCol Ruth Pulaski.

They had a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the 239th birthday. The oldest and youngest Marine get to eat the cake first.

Making baby quilts

I have been keeping very busy the last couple weeks making baby quilts.

Kinna and I sorted clothes for the HIWAM to be delivered to new moms.

A trip to Darkhan in northern Mongolia

It was fun to go on the high speed train.

On our arrival we went to the local vocational school to give clothes to the orphan teenagers.

The school had amazing facilities for learning plumbing, air conditioning, hair dressing, cement work.

I was excited to find the chocolate covered sunflower seeds today in the store, made in South Korea.

A tour of Gobi Cashmere

I have wanted to tour the Gobi Cashmere factory for the 2 years I have lived here. On Thursday 20 woman from the IWAM group went on a tour .

First the cashmere gets sorted, by picking out all the straw and poop.

A trip to Ulaanbaatar City Orphanage

On Friday a few of us went to the orphanage to play with the kids.
They made Halloween masks and drew some pictures.
